Back in the days, my first facial scrub was the St.Ives Apricot Scrub. In those days I had no idea how it was so bad for my skin and I may have misused that scrub a little too much. Ever since I have stayed away from facial scrubs. When I’m From launched their Fig Scrub, it piqued my curiosity on facial scrubs once again. Apparently, our taste buds aren’t the only ones who appreciate a sugar treat. The fine particles of white, brown, and raw sugar are incredible for exfoliating away dead skin from the face. So are sugar scrubs really bad for our face? Let’s find out more about this in the Klairs’s Youthful Glow Sugar Mask Review.

Klair's Youthful Sugar Mask

Whether physical or chemical exfoliant, exfoliating the skin is a must. Exfoliating the dead skin facilitates in keeping the skin free from whiteheads, blackheads, acne, and dullness. It also keeps the skin clean and allows better absorption of the skincare products.

Although exfoliating is necessary, sugar scrubs may seem harsh. To solve this issue, Klair’s has come up with the gentlest sugar scrub – the Youthful Glow Sugar Mask, a scrub that contains very fine sugar particles. Thus making this a very low irritating sugar mask.

What is in this?

The Klair’s Youthful Glow Sugar Mask is enriched with sucrose and antioxidants from grapefruit and raspberry.

Sucrose is a natural sugar and is a popular exfoliating ingredient. Being a natural humectant, sucrose helps condition and moisturizes the skin. Hence the skin does not feel dry after exfoliating.

A natural source of salicylic acid, the grapefruit extract helps in keeping the pores clean. Additionally, it also helps in nourishing and brightening the skin.

Raspberry seed oil is rich in antioxidants and is a great source of vitamin E. It helps in preventing premature aging while also decreasing inflammation and strengthening the skin to fight acne.

Other notable ingredients are:

  • Jojoba seed oil (a rich source of vitamin E, anti-inflammatory)
  • Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E, anti-inflammatory)
  • Kaolin (soft clay, exfoliates and cleanses)

How to Use?

1. As an exfoliator

  • On a damp face, apply an adequate amount of the sugar mask.
  • Gently massage with circular motions while paying attention to areas that need to be exfoliated.
  • Wash off with water

2. As a wash-off mask

  • After cleansing, on a wet face apply an adequate amount of the sugar mask.
  • Leave the mask on for 10 minutes.
  • Wash off with warm water

3. As a cleansing balm

  • Mix the sugar mask with any cleansing oil.
  • On a damp face, gently massage in rolling motions to cleanse as well as exfoliate.
  • Wash off with warm water.

My thoughts

Having always stayed away from sugar scrubs, I am actually enjoying sugar scrubs. The sugar particles in the Klair’s Youthful Glow Sugar Mask is very fine. The sherbet-like texture glides effortlessly over damp skin. It does not feel harsh or scratchy. And the mask smells heavenly.

How I like to use is either as an exfoliant or a wash-off mask.

I apply this mask over a slightly wet face. Using gentle circular motions, I massage my face with the scrub with my fingertips. Because the sugar particles are very fine, it dissolves effortlessly when massaged.

The sugar mask rinses off clean. There is no residual film. My skin feels softer, brighter, and a lot smoother. I have dry skin and I was fearing this would be too drying for my skin. Thankfully, this does not feel like it is drying my skin of its moisture.

When comparing the Klair’s Youthful Sugar Mask with the I’m From Fig Scrub, the texture of the Klair’s one feels a bit denser and drier. The fig mask feels a tad bit more moisturizing.

Conclusion

The Klair’s Youthful Glow Sugar Mask does a nice job of gently removing the dead skin cells while also cleaning the pores. What I enjoy about this mask is that it can be used as an exfoliator, a wash-off mask, or as a cleansing balm. A multi-purpose mask that I am thoroughly enjoying! Never would I have guessed that sugar masks could be as gentle as the Klair’s Youthful Glow Sugar Mask.
